EPIC sizing and specification guide

Placement follows the application, not one formula. What sets chamber density, what to send us to start scoping a project, and what documentation follows once it is live.

Different application, different density

EPIC TWS is a chamber manufacturer, not a fixed-format system, so there is no universal density. Higher density simply means more distribution points and more chamber void, and the ratio is set by what the installation has to do.

ApplicationDensityNote
Parks and sports fields1 per 3.72 m²Minimum for distribution, nutrient mixing, drainage and flow pattern in a formed EPDM cell, typically 5.5 m wide
Tighter or root-ball layout1 per 2.3 m²The ratio used for single-tree cells
Septic leach line, 300 mm trench1 per 0.37 m²Roughly 1.2 m spacing, giving the air pockets aerobic decomposition needs
Road-edge harvesting, 300 mm trenchWider spacingUniformly connected; uses far less aggregate over long narrow trenches
Rooftop gardensHigher densityReduces dead load by displacing sand with chamber void

Tree projects keep a low overall ratio even at the tighter spacing, because trees are spaced for canopy, not chamber count.

Scoping and specifying a project

Four things get a project moving: the application (irrigation, drainage, stormwater, reuse or a septic/leach field), the area or flow it has to handle, the site conditions (ground, access, existing services), and whether it needs to phase. Send what you have and we confirm the rest.

Once we are scoping a live project, Xpitrade releases the AutoCAD details for construction drawings, the product specification, and the construction specification covering the installation sequence in full.

Built to recognised standards

EPIC is designed to recognised structural, material and installation standards, ASTM and AASHTO among them, and sits within UAE, Saudi Arabian and wider Gulf water reuse and green-building regulation, including Dubai’s Al Sa’fat and Abu Dhabi’s Estidama.

The full standards and compliance register, the three-volume Technical Series and the rest of the 52 supporting documents are available through the Technical Library, on request.
